Situations will always present themselves, but it's how we deal with them that makes a world of a difference. Sometimes we need to think it through past our emotions and see how we shld better deal with it. We don't have to win all the time. It's a matter of getting things resolved with both parties feeling good about it.

10 Promises I Made to My Dog was on Ch62. It's a great show and I was watching it, until I felt like I couldn't cos it reminded me too much of Vodka. Haven't really thought about him in a while, but watching the show, I was reminded of how I failed to keep to those 10 promises, especially the last one.

It's so true - we are their world. And I believe, they too, are our world.

There are some people who hit the jackpot everytime, and then others who always draw the short straw.

Watching the stacks of cash being counted in plain sight, how just one note from that stack could make a world of a difference in our lives. Damn, the amount he held in his hands was more than 10 times the amount in my bank account. At that moment, it felt as if I drew the short straw after all.

But then we always forget to look around and be thankful for what we have. The miniscule things, not just material objects but other things that we should be thankful for but take for granted.

In some areas of life we may have drawn the short straw, and sometimes, it's only temporary, for that short period of time when we've hit a low. But there are also times when we hit the jackpot. That's just life, and the point of it is to brace ourselves through the hard times and look forward to and take joy in the good times. For that's exactly how life plays out.

Smile and the world smiles with you.

And today, the reason for me to smile? The beauty of nature.

I aim to work hard next sem, for someone has promised me a fully paid 14-day trip to Bangkok if I hit my target.

We all have our own comfort zones. Sometimes having to step out of it and be faced with new stuff. It does for me - all the time. Learning new things, starting on something new, having a brand new living environment - it all fazes me. I should just get out and get going. Why should I give a shit about what others think anyways? I don't need to be part of a group - I'm always the solitary drifter - always have been and probably always will be.

On a better note - Manja's back in the blk, at least early this morning she was. Saw her as I returned home at 4. Find myself scouring the lift lobby and stairs where she usually snoozes at everytime I pass by it and to be able to find her there at 4 when I least expected it, well, that's just a plus.

Had a great workout today playing bball, frisbee and tchoukball (which I totally cannot play - still dun understand how I can miss the friggin big net to hit air, or metal instead).

Been missing Manja recently - she's been hanging out in other areas in the neighbourhood I think. Saw her this morning when I was leaving the house and stroked her for a while - sweet as ever, that darling. But that's about the last time I saw her. I want Manja!

Yesterday was an extremely foodful day - an entire day spent in the kitchen whipping out tons of good food. Sticky and tired at the end of the day, and probably 1kg heavier, but it's all worth it. A touch of excitement and adventure too when the electric whisk suddenly started emerging smoke. But all's well that ends well - the products of our hard work.

Everyone, meet Manja, the fearless. Fearless cos when Kino nearly bit her head off yesterday, she just stood her ground and protected herself from the great big whites with her paw.

She's a super sweet cat - loves to rub herself against anyone who approaches and mews ever so sweetly, like a little kitten. Such a darling! She's been hanging out at the lift lobby on my floor and sometimes seen chilling out on top of my neighbour's washing machine outside their door.

You know you have a domesticated dog when she refuses to pee on her pee tray cos it's just too smelly.

Kino has been relieving herself on the floor of the kitchen for the past few week and I've been wrecking my brain trying to find out why. Scolding didn't work, removing the smell with disinfectants didn't work, and cleaning up her pee then putting it into the pee tray didn't work. Then it hit me - she's a clean freak; why would clean freaks refuse to do what they normally do?

So I pulled out the Dettol and gave the pee tray a good scrub down. No more smelly pee tray = an obedient dog = a happy owner!

Kino has definitely come a loooooong way from being a stray to who she is now.

I finally realise why I love Coldplay songs. It's not just the symphonic melodies - it's the clever lyrics that speak so true of life.

Today is a black day - not just literally dark, but moody as well.

I had a panic attack yesterday. I wondered what if it's true - the end of the world really is in 2012? Where do we all go after we die? It's the kind of question that I hate contemplating, cos there's never an answer to it, and it scares the shit out of me to think of what happens after life, if there's anything at all.

Then it leads on to today's ponderings - what have I been doing with my life? What will I be doing with my life that makes it all worthwhile?

Now life just seems to be all about study then work. Yes, there are moments where we enjoy in the company of others, or in solitude even. But these are miniscule. Here's where I hit the rock wall again - what am I meant to do? What do I want out of life? They say we only live once - how should I live it the best?

It's days like these I feel like hibernating the entire day. Either drown in mindless drinking or snuggle in bed, refusing to face life as it is.

Is it just me, or are others as bothered by the same things? I never know, cos I guess I'm not one whom pple generally talk to about their problems, and neither do I have someone I talk to about my thoughts.

I'm in need of a sponge.

Watching MTV whilst trying to get some work done, but got totally distracted when I saw BSB's video for their latest song - Straight to my Heart. Seriously, they were really cool and all back in the days, but now, it's like watching a bunch of middle-aged guys still trying to act cool - infusing dance/hip hop moves with pop? WTH?!? And it's the worst lip syncing I have ever seen. Seriously. It was visible even in that flashy dancefloor lighting.

Been busier than ever with social engagements these past few days. Not because of what but for the sake of making myself busy so unnecessary thoughts don't enter my mind.

Watching the people in the bum boat, I kept thinking - if only I can be as carefree as them, going overseas on a holiday without worries of having to return to work at the end of the day, or at least for the duration which they're holidaying. I miss that feeling.

Time to hit the books - but I'm still not ready to do so.

Yes, at freaking 5am - I've just returned home to a kitchen full of poop and pee, cleared it whilst refraining from puking and had a good shower to find that I'm still not in a clear-headed state of mind.

Tonight was the BOMB. A feast at home followed by an entertaining KTV session, and a rather funny lantern holding event - where we kinda stunned pple at Party World. Hoped on to terrorise a taxi driver before arriving at HooHa!

Yes, hoo ha man! That place ROCKS! The people there are soooooo friendly, the drinks are good and rather value for money and the food is good. Plus, there's a live band where you can head up on stage to sing with. Superb!

One bourbon coke, LIT, and a couple of gulps of wine from I-dunno-where later, here I am blogging at 5 in the morning.

It all started with an innocent dance with a lady who had too much to drink. Little did I know, I became the lady with a little too much to drink. With toasts of yum seng (in a pub no less - I guess I didn't get enuff yum seng frm the night before) and cheers from the kind lady, I was kinda floating by soon, which led to me doing something I NEVER thought I would ever do.

I actually went up on stage, willingly, to sing not 1, but 2 songs! And for record sake, it was Dancing Queen followed by 背叛.

So yes, whilst I am still not entirely sober, I am able to safely get home and blog too. What a night! Thanks so much Mr Tin, Mr Z and Ms W!

The stay at Mirama Hotel was quite a refreshing break - Singaporeans living in a hotel in Singapore. Kinda like having a house close to town, which is not that bad an idea actually.

Headed to Great World, the land of few people, to shop around and watch the Inglorious Bastards. True to Tarantino's style, much gore and rather twisted storyline, a good one in fact. Then bought the best card game ever - Deal AKA Monopoly in cards. Super fun game that we couldn't stop playing when Mr Tin came over to hang out with us. Played the game till 4am - that's about 4 hours of non-stop play. It's more addictive than mj!

Headed to JB for the usual food and shopping. A&W, cheap shopping (belt for S$4 and knit dress for S$7 - beat that!), cheap and good massage, herbal egg, seafood and pretzels. Great day of R&R, definitely, though I came home feeling nauseous and ended up puking my dinner out. Bleh.

Woke up with a sudden urge to beat the bulge - so cloudy and early at 9am, I decided to bring my darling furkid for a jog at the park. It does feel good to get going so early in the day :) Wish I had the discipline to continue doing so.

Our fear is what holds us back - fear of misrepresentation, fear of rejection, fear of failure.

I tried smiling non-stop for the bus ride home cos I remembered someone whom I met who was always so smiley. It's really refreshing to see her and you'd be influenced by it and want to smile too. Plus they say smiling uses less muscles than frowning thus should be more relaxing and natural. That and I met a man with such a grumpy and frumpy face - his face literally pulls down at the mouth to his chin, kinda like those grumpy cartoon characters we see on TV. Or a bulldog.

I once read that you'd make yourself feel depressed and bring bad stuff onto yourself by just expressing it - slouched body and frown complete. Sure enough, the guy on the bus seemed to draw bad things to himself too (at least from what I could see on the bus ride). The bus driver forgot to stop at his stop and went on to drop him off at the next stop instead. And it was raining.

I guess a smile beats away feelings of stress and irritation. Smile and the world will smile with you. :)

It's the kind of night when you don't know what to do - you can't sleep, but you're too lazy to do anything else. I've ended up just staring at my computer unsure of what to do. There's nothing to surf, not interested to watch shows or read stuff.

I tried to unclutter my life by packing some stuff but I got sick of it and gave up. Prob will continue tomorrow, and I'm not looking forward to when I need to clear the storeroom. How have I managed to accumulate so many things, many of which useless, in the span of 2 years that we moved in? Less is definitely more now.

ICG was today but ended up not having as much fun in the matches as I had hoped to. I'm thinking too much again.

I'm not one for big events and gatherings. Sorry for the countless no-shows this few weeks, cos I chickened out.

Ever felt like you're constantly being pulled out of your shell, watching yourself talking, acting, moving - like it's not you? That's me now.

No matter, there's always someone there for me, to pull me back in. Someone who's been there all this while, making my feel at ease at all times. I don't have to pretend, don't have to appease him (which is perhaps why I take him for granted sometimes), don't have to care so much when I'm with him. It's these moments when I feel like he's not just someone I can live with; he's someone I can't live without.

The current state of my house can be described as such:

an asthmatic's nightmare.

Kino's shedding an unbelievable amount of fur now. For a dog that looks relatively un-pouffy, she does have tonnes to shed. Really wonder where all the fur comes from.

Imagine my horror - just minutes after bathing her and cleaning the house (a super tedious effort that took me almost 2 hours), I spot clumps of fur rolling on the floor already. Reminiscent of those days, sure. But having fur in each bite of your food isn't fun, trust me. I'm surprised how I'm not coughing up furballs like cats do.

TE was uber fun today. Despite doing sports which I normally won't associate myself with, the activities carried out really did help me get more comfortable in playing the sport and did increase my participation. If only they would work on our own students when we go out teaching.

Am looking forward to the upcoming ICG. Our last year peeps, let's give it our all.

I think I've finally gotten it out of my system. The constant sacrifice of sleep for a few hours of pleasure.

One table. 4 people. I just love the feeling of the smooth tiles and the beautiful sound of a tile hitting against another. Noise to some, music to my ears, I say.

I think I can hear the cheers of my neighbours, and those whom I have constantly bugged to play with me. Is that a collective sigh of relief I hear?

Anywho, Kino's finally neutered. Poor girl, but it has to be done. No more worries about horn-dogs infiltrating. Trips to the dog run will be so much less stressful since we won't have to be on constant lookout for virile males.

What some cultures consider to be delicious, others might find grossly disturbing. We find out why the Balinese love Nasi Lawar, an unusual festive dish that's spiced up with fresh blood from a pig. In China, some locals show us how dogs are commonly bred, slaughtered and cooked. Also, we travel to the Philippines, to see why gastronomists there are so enthusiastic about monitor lizards, as a local delicacy. Who knows, you might be tempted, too.

It's a great documentary, especially for someone who hasn't watched any quality TV, or in fact, any sort of TV prog, in quite a while. Extreme graphics and interesting topics. Was actually wondering if it is a Singapore production, cos it's so good!

The part on how they killed and butchered dogs was the grossest for us. Doesn't help when we were having dinner then either.

Watching how they strangled the dog to death, and then plunged and soaked the poor soul into boiling water before pulling it out to remove its fur was heart-wrenching. Then they torched the poor dog with bare flame (not that it's still alive anymore by then). Watching them bring out the dog from the freezer was damn gross as well, and I just can't get the chilling image of the 3 decapitated dog's heads with their faces showing utter pain and anguish - their faces were just so heartbreaking - teeth clenched and bared, eyes shut tight and a deep frown etched in their faces.

There goes the story of how pple in China used to breed and rear dogs and it sometimes got to a point where they had too many dogs, so they decided to slaughter them and eat them. Thus began the eating of dog meat. I wonder if the day will come when they have too many children and decide to slaughter them for food as well.

Since the guys had their fun fishing for rubbish (well, they're really nice boys, doing free CWO and all), the girls were rewarded with a great shopping spree at Nike Factory at West Coast Shopping Mall (the old Ginza).

That was the first time I've seen a queue at a Nike store, with people emerging from the store with humongous plastic bags of Nike items, gloating at those still queueing to get in (aka poor us). Imagine scene at Paragon Gucci or LV in Taka during GSS.

But once we were granted access, we combed the area for surviving good buys and the result? 3 very contented shoppers. Superb sales with decent goods at undecent prices. Undecent cos they were so damn cheap.

Total damage? $230.

Guess we'll be eating home-cooked noodles (aka noodles from a packet) for the entire month. But it is sooooo worth it.

$50 for this sweet and patriotic pair of sneakers.

Dan bought a pair of grey Jordan 11 for the unbelievable price of $89.90. That's a $100 slash from the original price of $189.90. Swooosh!

You say it's for her sake, but that's not it. I know you miss him and I do too, which is why I don't want another. In part, I feel like his leaving was caused by negligence, one that probably wouldn't have occurred if we've just had one. One to pay constant attention to. One to take care of.

I am so sick of having to deal with so many things in my life, one of which is getting stuck in a dead end for the next couple of years, one that I am just realising and feeling like f about it. But I've got no one to turn to. No one to hear me. Not even you.

I'm sick of worrying about so many things, and I don't need one more to worry about. It's a lifetime commitment, one that I don't want now, when I myself don't know what I should do with my own f life. So please, stop it.

Not up to my normal teaching game recently, which sucks cos of all the observations that have passed and are coming.

Fun over work for me now - still suffering from withdrawl symptom from holidays. Need at least another month to recuperate but I guess a weekend getaway was good too.

Dashed off to Batam on Friday for a super last minute and short trip away from all the work and stress. But before that, was extremely stressed out by someone's incessant talking. So much so that I had to dash out of the room once he showed some semblance of ending, packed my stuff hurriedly and dashed straight into the car that would bring me to a day of heaven.

Managed to make it just in time for the ferry. Imagine us running through the mall, with me carry a huge backpack. A scene that would have totally made it on Amazing Race Asia.

Anyways, the hotel was superb! Huge deluxe room with a toilet that I absolutely love cos it's so huge. Pacific Palace Hotel, I believe.

Just after heading up to the rooms to freshen up, we had to leave for dinner already. Seafood in a kelong - tons of fresh seafood with the likes of chilli mud crabs, steamed flower crabs, gong gong, scallops, deep fried prawns, steamed prawns and steamed fish. Whilst we feasted, so did the mosquitoes and the cats, both thanks to me.

Right after, we headed back to town and got us some delicious BBQ corn on the cob. Smothered with chilli and butter, it was a superb snack. Kinda like Calbee chips without the trans fat. Got us some rambutans at the streetstall too.

And after that, headed off to town for more food - roti prata and chicken wings, and calamari as well as otah.

Then, headed for fried catfish. No idea catfish tasted so nice. Also had a taste of their ayam soto. Ended off the night feasting with Martabak - kinda like the pancakes that they sell in Mr Bean, but think 100 times nicer.

Yes, basically it was a ploy to get us all fat.

The next day started with what else, but more food. Had empeh empeh which was superb - fish ball, fish skin and some other fish thingy with egg in it. Also had the best yellow rice with chicken that I've ever tasted. Think super tender and juicy chicken meat. Plus, goreng pisang that's flattened. Yes, their goreng pisang's flat, not cylindrical.

A break from eating as we went shopping for what else but food. Well, and other groceries as well. Bought tons of things, including a box of Sedap Mie Mee Goreng. Tried some when we went on our trip to Hantu and am glad when we finally located an entire box of it.

After all that shopping, headed to A&W for the much craved for curly fries and root beer float. Yummy... great end cos we headed for the ferry after that.

Returned to have to rush to prepare to head over to Brendan's place for his party. Play Guitar Hero World Tour - tried the bass and drums. Fun but a little too testing on my coordination skills.

Food yet again and then headed to watch Dan almost play ball. Almost because it poured the moment they started playing. Yes, it was a sign. A sign that we had to eat again.

And after food, it was drinks and songs. Yay to Chevron. And that was my fun-filled Fri-Sat which resulted in my not-so-fun-filled Sun cos I had to stay in to work on my lesson plans. Damn. At least I'll have more food to look forward to when I head over to my friend's party. Yay. Fatten me up.

Back to waking at an ungodly hour, being stuck within the confines of a school. I miss my holidays, although the hours were spent insignificantly. Actually, I miss being insignificant.

The school's pretty limiting in terms of PE classes - lack of space and equipment mostly cos of ongoing construction works.

Mad rush towards Wed. I just can't wait for Thurs to arrive, cos then I'll be on leave and meeting Sonia once again, and spending the remainder of the week anticipating for Saturday to arrive.

Perhaps they ARE planning to take over the world and are just taking their time to build up their knowledge and plans.

So of course, for the sake of the economy, for the sake of the jobs of those working in the retail line, I have to sacrifice and spend my money buying those beautiful but evil, evil temptresses.

Meet the new member of the family - Strike! Born on 25 Jan 09, he was purchased by mom-in-law at Serangoon on 02 Jun 09.

He's a samoyed, a fluffy little bundle of fur aptly nicknamed the smiley dog.

Named him Strike cos 1) named him after Freedom Strike Gundam & 2) for prosperous reasons - strike lottery, TOTO, 4D and so on!

Brought Kino out for her daily walk, in the hopes of capturing a gorgeous sunset like the one witnessed yesterday, but unfortunately, the golden ball was rather shy today and decided to hide behind the clouds.

Dan fell asleep on the breakwater. I had to leave him there while I went back to get my other cam. Was scared that he would fall in but thankfully, found him in the same position when I returned.

The huge fireball slowly decends down lower into the trees, shaded by slivers of light puffy clouds.

The golden bright ball gradually loses its golden glare, deepening into a deep orange as it grows bigger with each descent. A warm orange glow emnates from the ball of fire instead.

The sky, a gorgeous light blue, with tufts of white clouds dotting the sky, wisps of white streaks across the blue.

It was a gorgeous sunset today and sharing the sight with my beloved Kino was wonderful.

Being a photography enthusiast has made me pay attention to the beautiful world that we live in, and allows me to appreciate the beauty of nature.

But ironically, witnessing such beautiful sights makes me curse when I don't have my camera with me to capture these wonderous moments, instead of smiling and enjoying the gorgeous sight.

Back from a much needed break on the island which we so adore - Pulau Hantu. Despite the name, the only thing fearful there was the vicious centipedes. We had 2 men down because of their poisonous stings and the Police Coast Guard has to drop by 2 nights in a row to save them. Weird and scary, definitely.

Never underestimate or be deceived by the beautiful creatures.

Kino's getting better, and so are we. We don't feel as sad about the loss, but we will forever remember him. I am slightly afraid that I will forget him over time, and it seems like life is back on track. On one hand, it's normal for life to go on as is but on the other, it's like we're forgetting him, taking his loss too lightly so soon after.

But that's what we do in times like these. Although we may live life as we always do, it's still never the same. We will never forget those who so touched our hearts. We will live on with the memory of the times we've shared and treasure them.

Till the day we meet again at the rainbow bridge. We love you dearly.

The loss of someone special always warrants a blog post, as is my case with writing as my tool in the process of healing.

As always, I think - what if? What if I hadn't chased him out of the room? What if I had opened to door? What if... what if...

The last thing I did to him was to chase him out. Guilt really consumes me - he only wanted to be close to us in his last moments, yet all I could think about was how his fur would get on the bed, how he might step on my bruises. Now all these things seem so trivial. I would have given him the entire bed if I had another chance.

Being in the house with him gone is really difficult. Everywhere I look I am reminded of him. The tuft of fur which signals his existence, the emptiness when I look into the toilets, the lack of him in front of the fan.

I miss him snuggling into us on the bed, stepping all over us, 'accidentally' stepping on our toes, his warm body as I snuggle into his fur, seeing him cuddled in a corner of the toilet, seeing him waiting for food as we cook, him licking our faces as we wake up, him lying by the water bowl with his 'chicken wing' front legs, his friendly 'hello' howl, his adorable face as I open the door, his excited face as we pick up his leash to prepare him for a walk, the clicking that his nails make on the floor as he walks around.

The house is quiet without him. Too quiet. Even Kino lays in a corner, dejected and bored.

He was a wonderful gift to us - a newly wed couple who shared their first home with their first dog - a lovely friend, buddy and comrade to us all. He was always there for us. If only he could be here again, and never leave us.

A gentle giant, a gentleman who always let Kino have her way.

We miss you, Vodka and we love you so much. We'll never forget you. Thank you so much for having been with us. You have brought us so much joy.

I'm thankful for all who turned up yesterday to say their last goodbyes to the best dog ever. He was really one of a kind and knowing that he made an impact on the lives of so many others who care so much for him helped.

Caught the final episode of Desperate Housewives and it's really quite interesting, yet not as exciting as previous seasons' endings. But there's one thing in the episode which really bugs and irritates me - who is that woman in the wedding gown??? Gee... they really do know how to keep us in suspense.

Gossip Girls on the other hand, is getting kinda boring. Season finales aren't all that exciting, and the affairs of the heart are getting boring, with Nate shuffling from one to the other (always the same girls), Blair and Chuck on their endless "tell me you love me" squabble (though the season does resolve something for them) and Serena and Dan on their almost incestuous relationship which lasted way too short and was revived for no apparent reason (which also explains its abrupt death for a second time).

And as for Ugly Betty, I just love watching it for the colourful visuals and Amanda's superb bimboness! Though the story does get exciting in the middle of the season, it sizzles out towards the end.

Mums' Day

Suffering from a hangover, Dan and I dragged ourselves out of bed and headed to River View Hotel for Mums' Day celebratory lunch with my family.

Just a note - buffet after a late night of drinking is a terrible idea. Result? No appetite, dizzy spells, over-feeding which results in puke. Damn. And I really hate puking, but it was either that or feel totally sick for the rest of the day.

On an entirely different note, did something that I never ever thought I would actually do. Not a bad thing, but it really was an experience. True true. Thanks Peter! I love it!! *woof woof*

Oh, and we have discovered a more fun alternative to using cash when playing mahjong - $1 = 1 stroke! SO much more interesting and entertaining! Endless fun bullying people with seemingly harmless eyebrow pencils and eye liners. Jenga's a good way to get some face art too!

Our 4 victims were repainted by us - an Ah Beng with a black eye, chef with mustache, kitty cat kid and kitty cat gal. Too bad I don't have the pics to show... but I think they would kill me if I did post any anyways.

I'm increasingly more of a fan of Aerosmith ever since I've been playing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith on PS3. The songs are so... oomph! Love the guitar solo parts too... Joe Perry is superb, man! Although I nearly wished him dead when I had to play against 'him' to advance in the game.

Super in awe of actual guitar players - those who can move their fingers so much faster than my eyes can see!

Been watching Dan play Resident Evil 5 as well. The graphics are superb!! It's like playing a movie character rather than a game character. Amazing! Plus, totally thrilling to watch too. Too much of a coward to play myself but it's fun enough to just watch!

I guess that sums up my holidays. PS3 rocks!!!

Nothing kills me more than seeing something so fragile, something so small and helpless, on the brink of death and knowing that you can do nothing to save it.

I could only watch as he took his last breaths, labouring against unimaginable pain as he gasped for air, his deflated chest rising ever so clearly with each struggle against death.

I could not bear to touch him, afraid that if I did, his fragile body would crumble and cease to exist.

His squeaks for help were silent, even though he exerted all the energy that he could muster to try and call out for someone to help him. I was there, watching him as he did, wishing I could help but it was all too late.

He lay still after a last attempt to gasp for air, his collapsing lungs failing to inflate. I could not bear to touch him, his body limp, his eyes open but unable to see. With the towel in my hand, I picked his lifeless shell up and wrapped the soft blue cloth over him.

If only I had not chosen to take him out that day, chosen to close the door to the room instead, chosen to check periodically on him. I know one should not live with regrets and 'what ifs' but how can I not?

Picking photos is hellish... especially when you are spoilt for choice and want EVERYTHING. But then again, the price is a tad too steep to get everything, although we did pay up a considerably significant sum for additional photos to be added to the album.

Btw, I totally blame the photog for this dilemma and splurge - he's just too damn good! If only he'll accept me as his disciple... *dreams*

But I am absolutely contented at how the photos turned out. Although he only showed us slim pickings from the huge mass of photos that he probably amassed, I do like most of what we saw. Will provide a sneak peak when I get the CD in a month's time.

An attempt to provide a peek on what I'll look like in my wedding photos and on my wedding day

The photoshoot today was absolutely fun! Really think we did the right thing signing up with this wedding boutique cos their service is impeccable! The people there are super nice and friendly and I think that's what good service is - not just all smiles and robot-like service, but rather, they make you feel like you're meeting your pals.

Thought the photoshoot was going to be very tiring and boring, but instead totally enjoyed myself today. I think the enthusiastic photog played a huge part in that. He's a funny guy who makes you laugh and feel natural in front of the camera, even though he does make you do funny poses that you'd feel awkward in (I totally can still hear his voice telling me to: "Tilt your head down", "Look up", "Look down", "Chest and butt out", "arch back", "tilt your hip up", "stomach out"...). A true professional as such. Really inspired me and gave me an urge to take on photography, or at least seriously consider it.

Started out in the studio for indoor shots and we actually managed to smuggle our dogs in for the shots all thanks to the help from a great friend. :) Although it nearly didn't materialise cos the security saw us with the dogs and chased us out once. But like they say, never say die, rite?

Outdoor shots started off with Henderson Waves - so many people were there... it was kinda awkward to have so many people watching as we made our way up, and to hear so many people trying to whisper about you, when in fact they're talking rather audibly as they walk past you. And several mentioned "Oh, look, she's wearing slippers!" Yes, most of my outdoor shots were actually done with me wearing slippers. Kinda reminds me of those newscasters who wear shorts under the table.

Moved on to Alexandra Park where 2 other couples were also shooting their wedding shots. Took some on the famous swing as well, before we left there with some mosquito bites.

And last but not least, Sentosa. Headed for Tanjong Beach initially but it was DAMN packed cos of some Beach Fiesta so we had to head over to Siloso instead, ironically. Walked past a camera crew who was there filming this show - Cooking in Asia starring a celebrity chef whose name I can't remember.

So anyways, he stopped cooking as we walked past and congratulated us. We headed past and took our position further down the beach, preparing for the shots when I noticed that one of the camera men was standing a few metres away, camera in hand, shooting us. Yes, I shamelessly flirted with the camera - waved to it once and looked away, but looked back and found the camera man waving at me, so I waved back again. I guess there's my 5 min of fame. It's out in July so if u happen to watch the show, do watch out for our cameo appearance!

Took a couple of photos there, with the sunset and what not before we called it a day and headed back to the studio. I can't wait to see the photos a week later, although that would mean we would have to make tough decisions when choosing the photos. *gulp*

It was a great day - the weather was kind to us and the people were super nice. Strangers, mostly caucasian, even came up to congratulate us and a family on vacation even came up to take a photo with us.

Really, a woman does feel prettiest when she's in a gown and all prepared for her wedding.

Today was an interesting day, where I witnessed the marvels of human beings.

For one thing, we don't like it when people criticise our work - it's human nature to defend our own work that we've worked so hard on and sloughed hours on.

But there's another - we don't like it when people show off as well, especially when it makes others' hard work look bad. Going above and beyond is one thing, but by doing so, you've gotta think if you're making others look bad by doing so. Cos if you do, be sure that people will criticise and find fault with what you've done - it's just another aspect of human nature.

I wouldn't have mentioned anything, and I'm sure others wouldn't have as well, if not for the fact that they did what they did. As much as we try to deny it, we all wanna see those on the upper hand fall, at least to the same level that we're at. We like to be homogenous - we generally do not like the rose amongst us, the thorns.

I guess the point is that when you want to be on top, either make sure that you're not making others look bad, or make sure that your work is DAMN good, and so perfect that no one can question it. If not, don't, cos all that extra work results in extra sharp eyes of those watching.

Yes, what my question may seem mean as a criticism to the group, but what I intended was to show how our hard work doesn't pale in comparison, and how we could have easily churned out 10 journals as well, had we taken the path that they had. But then again, their path seemed to be veering out of relevance.

If I were still in poly and my advertising lecturer had a group presenting their work that didn't conform to the assignment requirements, I think the lecturer would have shot them that question if I myself hadn't, and would have given them a big fat F to go with it. Boy, do I miss my harsh poly days.

Well, there's one thing for sure - no matter what, personal attacks are definitely not welcomed.

This is definitely the most interesting presentation that I've been to.

Had a little movie marathon today... first up,It's a rather funny and sweet romantic comedy. The actors are real and the happenings so hilarious, esp when Jason Segel jiggles his privates at his gf - the look on his face was SO classic! And the quirky characters, esp Aldous Snow, with his unbelievably stupid songs. Great for a good laugh.

Here's a movie that depicts relationships very well - the guy who doesn't pull his weight around at home, leaving it all up to his gf, who's finally had enough. The very things that they argue about hits home - "I don't want you to do the dishes; I want you to want to do the dishes!"

That's just a classic case of how we women want our men to take the initiative and do things for us even without us telling them, and with his refute "Why would I want to do the dishes?!" it's just a clear portrayal of how the men don't get what women want.

But from watching the show, it did make me realise that although I totally understand where Jennifer Aniston's character was going with the arguments, it did seem a little stupid and trivial when it comes from another person, and Vince Vaughn's rebutes, it really made me realise how we sometimes see such stupid things out of proportion, blowing them into huge problems.

It's kinda sad how it all ends, when such a small argument escalates to such epic proportions. But the show does tug at my heart, given the close depictions of life as a couple.

Firstly, kudos to Sean Penn for his superb performance. He's always been able to portray the characters he plays so realistically, making the shows such hits. It's really an eye-opener, the descrimination towards gays and how hard people like Milk tried to fight against it. He was so unrelenting and his words were so powerful. He just oozed of the charm and charisma that someone with a purpose possesses. A sad and touching ending, but a very good show, definitely.

The big match has ended... with a very surprising score of 4-1, with Liverpool taking all the glory this time. Man U just had Too many Vital Errors... gave Liverpool too many chances, which they took without hesitation. Nevertheless, it was an entertaining and interesting game where Liverpool played a great game with great goals.

And I now have a new eye candy!! Since Teves didn't perform up to standard today (cos he's missing his hairband), I've found a new soccer idol who has the power hairband... (see, it makes a difference k?) - Torres!
SOMEONE made it clear that if I ever supported the ENEMY, I'd have to sleep on the floor. So all I can say is - GO SPAIN!

Yesterday was Vodka's 3rd birthday (14 March)... Happy Birthday Vodky!!! Decided to celebrate by bringing him to the dog run. Coincidentally, another 2 dogs were celebrating their birthdays there too and they brought cake. So guess who had a share of the cake thanks to the kind owner?

Yes, the birthday boy had the bulk of the cake but he did share some with his fellow Huskie pals at the dog run... Kino did get into a spate with Shadow, cos he was just taking his own sweet time eating his, and Kino isn't one who will stand by and watch whilst others eat something that she wants. She'd go up for it, no matter the size of the other dog.

So there was a little tussle for the final piece of cake, where all 3 Huskies stared at the remaining cake that Shadow had, waiting for a chance to snatch the bone. And like in all dog and bone games, when two get entangled in the frenzy (i.e. fight), someone comes out with the prize.

A very clever Silver (that's Shadow's bro) swept in quickly amidst the flurry when Kino lurched forward to try and grab Shadow's cake, resulting in him growling back and a small tussle between them.

I didn't even notice that the cake was missing until Danny pointed it out, and pointed out the clever hound who got the cake and ate it. Tsk tsk...

We also dropped by town for a short while earlier in the day - wanted to head to Suki Sushi for the buffet lunch, but when we got there, the queue was so freaking long - started all the way from the lift lobby! So we thought we'd be able to do something better with our time and parking fees, so we left and headed to Taka for some food.

Our dogs have a way of telling us when the house is too dirty and needs a cleaning. They mess it up even more, so much so that we are forced to clean up.

We returned home to a room full of hamster bathing sand. I had forgotten to close the door to the store-room when I left the house and the two terrorisers snuck into the store-room and tore apart the bag of apple scented hamster bathing sand. They must have thought it was apple in powder form or something cos they ate it.

SO basically we returned home to a sandy house and 2 sick dogs who puked sand and pooped sand. And that in return, equates to 2 very tired owners cleaning up after them.

All these after we've just returned home from about 2 hours at the bridal boutique, trying on endless gowns and dresses.

The tailor-made and custom designed gown has finally arrived and had a first fitting in it - I love it! Thank goodness it turned out great and pretty similar to what I've expected.

Then came the tough part - choosing an outdoor gown for the shoot, and evening gown for the dinner and another outfit for the wedding photos.

I think I've tried on at least 50 dresses today, what with all the various designs, cuts, colours and all. Whew!

But glad to say it's all settled now. I love most of my dresses... all, in fact. Can't wait for the upcoming photo shoot and the big day!

Ok, finally a post that's not on dogs or food...

Only I'm wondering why couldn't I have blogged about dogs today since the weather was so good for the day! Too bad someone had to go fishing out at sea and not be able to bring us to the dog run. Oh well, maybe there will be a food entry later tonight, depending on what he caught for the day.

Oh, and too bad I had to spend the day trying to complete an assignment that I don't even know how to complete, except to crash through it based on whatever I assume is the way to do it.

I just don't understand how we are supposed to develop our own YPI when some of us have not even coached the pee-wee league.

So when push comes to shove, and you have a lecturer who wants you to discover how to complete it youself, and not forgetting the arsehole arse-kisser who thinks the assignment is a piece of cake and doesn't require any further instructions when our lecturer was on the verge of shedding some light on the assignment, you have to just do it, like Nike says.

Time for a break... off to watch Vicky Christina Aguilera.

Cornetto McFlurry from JB Mac - Yes, the wonderful dessert is still available in our neighbouring country! Been missing it since they stopped selling it in S'pore. Make it a permanant item, pls.

Seasoned scallops from JB Sushi King - Not the best sushi place ever but it's cheap and rather nice. Love the scallops, as always. Hmmm time for buffet at Suki perhaps... watch out, scallops!

Xiao long bao from Din Tai Fung and Bt Timah. Yummy... can't get enough of the fragrant oozing soup.

White fungus with papaya dessert from Din Tai Fung - love the tantalising sweetness of it.

Jap baby scallops from Giant - yes, they're not as good as those from the Jap supermarts but it's a wonderful tiny pouch of sweetness still.

Crabs and more crabs from Newton - steamed crab at home, followed by grilled crab at Newton. And tonight, even MORE!

Black carrot cake from Newton - the sweetness of the super-black carrot cake makes the fluffy-light bits and chunks of carrot cake irresistable. Love the wet version here as supposed to the dry and yucky tasting ones from other stalls.

Butter prawns from Newton - Salty and crispy, these are superb!

Durian juice from Newton - Made from real durians, it's really similar to actually eating durian without the hassle of having to crack it open and the mess of eating with your hands. Durian in a cup for me anytime. Plus, no smelly fingers after eating.

Tons of great food at sinful hours. Got back at 3.30am after the feasting at Newton. But it's all worth it. More to come tonight! YAY!
